Simpel Session 25 – Volcano Building

Had the chance to build the skatepark of the Simpel Session 25 -specifically, two wooden volcano ramps. I got there thanks to an invite from Craftsmaniak.
Building volcanos from wood and covering them with plywood was a first for me, and honestly, super engaging. The work was non-stop and heavy, but when you're doing something you love, there's this strange energy that keeps you going.

I've actually participated in a few Simpel Sessions over the years. My first one was back in 2005 -twenty years ago.

The photo above came together during a small 10-minute break. I spotted Jarmo with a camera, and we quickly collaborated. That shot ended up capturing the very first trick in the Simpel Session 25 park.

The rest of the park was built by Figureout Skateparks, a Lithuanian skatepark company, together with Āķis. One detail I really wanted to capture was the sun-shaped frame in the structure—an unexpectedly beautiful touch. Just to be clear, I only worked on the volcanos. I kept going right up until the last possible minute, then jumped on a bus home. The driver was furious, and the passengers were holding on for dear life.

Some days were crazy frustrating—I even broke a tooth mid-build and ended up gluing it back in with superglue. Not ideal, but sometimes that’s just how it goes. Still wouldn’t trade the experience.
